Why is vinegar good for cleansing?

Vinegar makes a great home cleaner because it is made from acetic acid - an ingredient in store-bought home cleaners - although vinegar is more environmentally friendly and much cheaper. Vinegar is great for cleaning because it is acidic which means it is able to eliminate dirt, grease, grime and bacteria, making it perfect for cleaning your bathroom.


 

Which vinegar is best used for cleansing?

White distilled vinegar is best for cleansing because it does not contain a coloring agent like dark vinegar, so it does not leave any stains. White distilled vinegar has an acidity of about 5% which is similar to the home cleaner bought from many stores, making it the best cheap option, hidden in everyone's kitchen cupboard. However, if you do not like the smell of white vinegar, there are options.

You can either use diluted apple cider vinegar, which does not smell but can leave a stain, or you can add a few drops of essential oil to your white vinegar to remove the odor. White wine vinegar is also good for cleaning, it works well when heated.

 

What to mix with vinegar for cleaning?

When cleaning with vinegar you may need to mix it with something else to clean different items.

Most of the time, a mixture of vinegar and water in a 50/50 solution will suffice, but not always. Showerheads only need white vinegar, spray baking soda on the toilet or bath, water it to clean the tile. The shower glass will work with a normal 50/50 water/vinegar solution, the taps need to be sprayed with lemon juice and you can add some rubbing alcohol to keep the shower panels shiny and streak-free.

 

Cleaning bathroom mold with vinegar

Bathroom mold is a common problem caused by prolonged lack of moisture and ventilation, especially around baths and showers. The best way to clean bathroom mold with vinegar is simple and easy!

1. Fill a spray bottle with white distilled vinegar.

2. Spray white vinegar directly on the mold.

3. Let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes.

4. Once seated, use a soft damp cloth to wipe off the vinegar and mold.

5. If there is any stubborn mold left, make a paste of distilled vinegar and baking soda and rub it on the area where the mold is left.

6. Then use an old toothbrush to remove the mold.

7. Next wipe with a damp cloth.

8. To remove, now rinse the mold free area so that any paste remains.

The toothbrush is the perfect tool to use as it can reach small hard areas for cleaning, making sure you get rid of every single mold.

Cleaning bathroom tiles with vinegar

Bathroom tiles can get dirty easily, but they are easy to clean, even if there is no cleaning product in the house. Using what, you ask? White vinegar and water.

1. In a bowl pour 125 ml. Mix white vinegar and one liter of hot water.

2. Dip a soft cloth into the mixture and then rub the tiles thoroughly.

3. If the water gets cold or dirty, change it to get better results.

4. Then wash the tiles.

The best thing about this is that this vinegar solution is ideal for use with both bathroom wall and floor tiles.

Cleaning bathroom grout with baking soda and vinegar

Cleaning the grout between the tiles can be very difficult and frustrating. The good news is that bathroom grout is easy to clean with baking soda and vinegar and gives good results.

1. Fill a spray bottle with white vinegar.

2. Spray vinegar directly on the grout.

3. Sprinkle baking soda on the vinegar.

4. Leave the vinegar and baking soda to work for at least 10 minutes.

5. Then rub with an old toothbrush.

6. Then wipe and rinse using a damp cloth.

7. Repeat as many times as you feel the need.

Baking soda on top of vinegar makes a big difference and helps speed up the process. Once you clean and grout your tiles, your bathroom will look new!
